East 4th HornS

|

East 4th HornS happen to be one of the hottest
units out of NY. They have participated in many
recording sessions, in all genres of music, so even if you don't know their name you probably know their sound. This is their first album. They felt it was overdue to explore their own music, instead of
participating on someone else’s project.
The band members are John Wheeler on trombone, Tony Kadleck on trumpet and John Scarpulla on the sax. Their history starts in the early ‘80s out of Boston. Wheeler and Scarpulla studied at Berkeley Music College, and met Kadleck who was studying at New England Music College. They shared the dream of being active as a professional horn section. In 1986 they moved to NY, but it was not until 1992 that they took on the name East 4th HornS and began operating as a group.
Wheeler and Scarpulla had trained with the Tommy Dorsey orchestra when they were teenagers and Kadleck was invited to be a guest soloist by the Boston Pops. Their ability exceeds their years and this project is a fine representation of their talent.
After landing a great account with “Beat on Beat“ studios under the production of Atsushi Kosugi, the East 4th HornS began and continue to record with artists such as George Benson,The Gypsy Kings, Jody Watley, Natalie Cole, Luther Vandross, Bill Cosby, Aaron Hall, Ultra Naté, Nuyorican Soul, Be Be Wynans, Terence Trent D’arby, The Braxtons and Salt-n-Pepa. Some other musicians that recorded with the East 4th HornS in the section are Arturo Sandoval, Michael Brecker, Grover Washington, Jr., Bill Evans, Phil Woods, Bob Mintzer, Bob Berg, Lenny Pickett, Jay Beckenstein, Gary Smulyan, Barry Danielian, Ozzie Melendez, Joe Giorgianni, Dave Mann, Eric Miyashiro, Andy Snitzer and Donny McCaslin to name a few.
